Cal Pierce, TK-1932 of the Mountain Garrison. Cal was recognized for going above and beyond to share his talents with other fans by displaying his creations for others enjoyment and allowing the Mountain Garrison to use his incredible full-size sets for an annual photo charity drive. In August, he completed the Jabba's Palace Han in Carbonite set for the 501st Bash & 501st room with Cal covering most of the expense. Cal's artistry, patience, effort, contribution and sacrifice to help promote the 501st Legion as the premier Star Wars fan club was the reason he was chosen as August Trooper of the Month. Congrats Cal!!

Never too short for a Stormtrooper
by Fleetfang on Tue Oct 30, 2012 10:25 am
The Legion's has made a dream come true for Katie "the Star Wars Girl." Two years ago, Katie was bullied for being a girl who liked Star Wars. She became national news, and the 501st Legion and the rest of the fan community came to her defense. Katie regained her confidence that she can be whoever she wants to be, and she decided that for this Halloween she wanted to embody one of her new heroes -- she wanted to be a stormtrooper of the Fighting 501st!

Members of the FISD from around the world rose to the call for help, donating money and materials to make it possible. members gave their time and talent to measure, trim, glue, sew, snap, paint, and rivet Katie's dream into reality. Her armor was assembled in exacting detail, and with only days to spare before Halloween, Katie suited up for the first time!

One little girl's wish has come true, but in the process, the Legion has created a gift that will be shared around the world for years to come...

Read the whole story and learn what the ultimate fate of Katie's armor will be , and watch a quick video about the story !

Disney to Acquire Lucasfilm
by Fleetfang on Wed Oct 31, 2012 11:28 am
Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm is a momentous change for the future direction of the Star Wars franchise. Like all Star Wars fans, the members of the 501st are excited about the prospect of seeing brand new Star Wars films on the big screen, and we welcome the longevity that those films will grant to the entire saga. We will eagerly await the release of these new adventures in the Star Wars galaxy.

We have a long-standing and valuable relationship with Lucasfilm, and a solid foundation with Disney through our appearances at Star Wars Weekends and in support of Star Tours. We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with LFL and Disney and are equally excited by the possibility of future opportunities for the expansion of the Star Wars universe worldwide.

The 501st Legion will always be "the bad guys who do good," and we are certain that our charitable mission to spread the magic of Star Wars to children of all ages around the world will continue for years to come.

Thank you,

501st Legion - Vader's Fist

Legion Commanding Officer
