Context:

• This CRL is a work in progress. This costume may be approved by GMLs, but additional research should be done until the CRL is complete.
• If you have this costume and would like to assist with this CRL, please contact your detachment leader!
• Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

• Lenses must be sufficiently dark enough to obscure the costumer's eyes. They may be flat or bubble.
• The black "ear" bars have three of four bumps
• Frown must have either 6 or 8 teeth cut out and any coloring must not leave indented area.
• Tube stripes may number between 9 and 15 per side with the curve bends extending backwards. There does not need to be the same number per side.
• Aerators (cylinders on either side of the vocoder) are black, and screening maybe silver or black.
• Tears, traps, and tube stripes may be: hand painted, decals, or decals that replicate hand painting, they may also be untouched and left as unmodified shiny black helmet material.

• Accepted helmet color combinations are as follows:
  • Smoke/black lenses, black frown (gloss), black chin / vocoder (matte or gloss), black tube stripes, tears and temples (matte or gloss).
  • Smoke/black lenses, black frown (gloss), black chin / vocoder (matte or gloss), navy blue tube stripes, tears and temples (matte or gloss). This variation is acceptable only when paired with a navy blue undersuit.
  • Silver lenses, black frown, black chin, black tube stripes, tears and temples (matte or gloss).
  • Silver lenses, silver frown, black or silver/grey chin, black tube stripes, tears and temples (matte or gloss).

• The body of the "ears" may be black or gray. The bars have three or four bumps and may be left the same color as the body or painted black.
• The frown must have either 6 or 8 teeth cut out and any coloring must not leave the indented area. Acceptable colors are: black, gray or silver. If there are spaces between the teeth the wearer's face must not be seen
• The tube stripes are black in color and may number between 9 and 15 per side with the curve bends extending backwards. These may be hand painted or decals. There does not need to be the same number per side.
• Vocoder (vertically ribbed chin detail) may be black or silver.
• The aerators (cylinders on either side of the vocoder) are black, and screening maybe silver or black.
• Traps (trapezoids on dome of helmet) and tears (area beneath the corners of eye lenses) may be: hand painted, decals. Acceptable colors are: black or gray. Rear traps and tears may have vertical black lines.
  

• Black with horizontal ribs, fitted to the wearer, and extending from the base of the neck to the top of the Adam's apple.

It is allowable to have a single kidney/butt plate for 501st requirements. If a separate kidney plate is used, it should line up with the ab plate, with the top of the kidney plate being flush to or under the back plate.

• Belt face is made of plastic (ammo belt). It is comprised of 6 rectangular boxes, with three square buttons, one centered in the middle and one on each end.
• Belt proper is made Shiny Black ABS or similar shiny material and must be 3 to 3.5" wide. Black canvas or similar heavy material is also acceptable
• The drop boxes dangle from the sides of the plastic belt face via black straps and are aligned under the plastic tabs of the ammo belt.

• The thigh armor may be able to open and firmly close in the back, but must be permanently sealed in the front. The ammo belt is installed on the bottom of the right thigh.

• Black leather or leather-like, above ankle height, with a flat sole, and small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle with no buckles or laces. Jodphur-type boots or an equivalent style.
• Elvis / Mariachi boots are not acceptable.
• All stitching must be black, and unnecessary or decorative stitching must not be present.
• White, or other color boots painted black are allowed so long as the boots are seen and maintained as black when finished.

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.

• Must be black in color and made from vinyl or leather. Must be worn over the right shoulder.
  

• Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster.
  

• Folding stock (does not need to function).
• A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - should be present.
• D-ring mounted on the rear.
• Correct style scope.
• Two power cylinders on the magazine.
• Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters should have a total of 6 t-racks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the Hengstler side un-covered).
• Popular commercially available toy Stormtrooper blasters have a total of 7 T-racks (if you cover all the rows of holes) or 6 T-racks (if you cover the "open row" of holes on the Hengstler side.
• Below this, you must grind off the lower T-rack and drill a new row of holes).

• Based on a real or replica MG-34 machine gun.
