Black text indicates a feature that is required for approval. Blue text denotes features that will make a movie accurate costume, but are not required. Red text indicates features that make an art accurate costume, but are not required.

For 501st membership only the requirements listed in black need to be met.

Special Notes:

• The armor parts shall be film-accurate or close approximation in gloss or semi-gloss black and made from one of these types of materials or like materials: Fiberglass, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), or HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene).

• Blasters are not required for legion membership per our weapons policy.

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

• Lenses must be black, dark green or a silver mirrored.
• Helmet may have scout detailing or left plain. If detailing is present it must be black or dark gray.
• Licensed helmets are acceptable with modifications:
  • Any deformation of shape (helmet flare must be corrected.
  • Remove the manufacturer logo
  • Lens opening widened and lens replaced with a darker transparent material.
  • Remove "fish-hook" logo
  • Replace stock bolts with flat-disc "elevator" bolts
  • Replace inaccurate aerator.
  • Repaint to match the armor.
    

• Film-accurate snout detail and aerator with accurate parts, mounted onto a plate and painted a contrasting Black to the Armour.
• Film-accurate squared emblem located on the left faceplate "blinder"
• Film-accurate helmet snout/aerator detail, mounted onto a plate and painted a contrasting black to the helmet
• Film-accurate rear helmet "bar code" striping pattern
• No mesh in ears. Black material to be added inside to create depth, or painted.
• Properly shaped ear holes must be installed.
• Decals or painted areas must contrast the rest of the helmet.

• A balaclava is a black head sock/hood that is worn under the helmet and is used primarily to hide any view of the wearer's skin and/or facial hair.
  

• They do not have any adornment.
  

• Should be secured around bicep with a 35mm (1 3/8") black elastic.

• Have a recessed area with a "t-bit" detail attached within.
• Black elastic is used to secure the armor around upper arm.
  

• Includes film-accurate "T-bit" detail and they are secured around the arm with a 35mm (1 3/8") black elastic strap. T-bit circle detail piece must face forward on each arm.

• Black elastic is used to secure the armor around forearm.
  

• 25mm (1") black elastic is used to secure the armor around forearm.

• Black leather and gauntlet length.
• Should have no labels/logos, clips or external straps.
• Ribbing over knuckles must be present.
  

• Must have Suede or faux suede padding on fingers and inside of thumb and correct gauntlet stitching

• There is a recessed rectangular area present over the right breast that may be painted flat black or left unfinished.
• The chest armor and back plate should be joined together over the shoulder and the gap (if there is any) covered with a loop of black fabric.
• The sides of the chest armor are attached to the back plate by black webbing or elastic.
  

• Shoulder bridge Straps attaching front and back armor should be black cotton webbing. Nylon webbing is not acceptable.
• Breastplate must include the rectangular contrasting black strip on the lower right breast.
• The sides of the chest armor are attached to the back plate by 50mm (2") black webbing or elastic.

• The back plate has a tank attached.
• The top of the tank is flat with a detail piece painted matte black.
• The tank may have a matte black stripe detail.
• Scouts may have additional matte black "rank indicators" that are present on the right side of the tank and can number anywhere from 0 to 6 stripes.
  

• Bullet tank on the back plate must have film-accurate tank topper detail painted entirely black. Proper pin striping and single rivet to hold the bottom of the tank.
• Tank toppers that are integrated as part of a unified vacuum thermoformed back plate/bullet tank assembly are not acceptable.

• The undersuit is a one or two-piece black textile suit, such as military flightsuits, motorcycle racing suits, industrial work clothing (Dickies), or similar suit modified appropriately.
• Suit must not have any visible labels, logos, zippers or pockets (including built in flight suit pockets).
  

• Based on a one piece flight suit or racing suit and including:
• All visible zippers and pockets (except for primary zipper) removed.
• Black real suede riding patch on the inside of the thighs and over the seat of the suit.
• Two thigh straps made from 50mm (2") black elastic that are affixed underneath riding patch, must be fitted to your leg and not loose or drooping.
• Mandarin style (or similar) collar that can be raised up to help conceal the neck and would preferably have an enclosing strap to keep the neck concealed.
• Must have a real black suede square butt patch attached to flight suit at the rear under where cummerbund will sit and resemble those seen on screen, size will adjust slightly from scout to scout, but correct scale must be noted.

• Made out of black heavy cotton fabric and closes in back with velcro.
• Should sit from just under the chest armor down to the waist.
• There should be no gap between the belt and cummerbund.
• Has a tapered crotch made from the same material and sits between the legs and connects to the back of the cummerbund by a black strap.
• Has 6 ribs of equal width stitched into the front, where two fabric pouches are connected.
• Pouches are made of a black matching fabric and should be touching chest armor and slightly overlapping belt.
  

• Ribs, MUST be completely visible between the pouches.
• Inverted arc stitched on the groin flap (not chevron)
• 50mm (2") black elastic thong joining cod to back of bund

• The front and two "boxes" of the belt are made out of hard material.
• The rest of the belt that fastens at the back of the waist is made out a textile material.
• The back of the belt has a rectangular black box with short black corrugated hose.
• Hanging from the sides of the belt are hip boxes, also made out of hard material. These are connected to the belt by black textile straps.
  

• Belt must be made from one piece at the front, and not separated with fabric in between the front part where the drop box straps attach, apart from at the back where the TD box sits.
• Straps used for drop boxes should be made with a 40mm (1 1/2") black cotton webbing. Nylon webbing is not acceptable.
• The correct thermal detonator greeblies must be attached to the box, the rectangular part of the TD greeblie is the same as used in the rebel endor troopers rank badge, which is fixed on the left side of the TD, on the right the same round greeblie as what is used on the scouts tank topper. See the detonator detail page for a close up image of the greeblies.
• The TD box must be secured by one single black tie wrap, with side buckle to fasten belt hidden under the box out of sight, or velcro fastening attached with 50mm (2") black cotton or nylon belt secured each end of the belt with a single black rivet.
• Thermal Detonator Black belt canister tube has concave end caps secured on each end.

• Black elastic is used to secure the armor around the leg.
  

• Have two elastic straps, one passing through the knee armor 25mm (1") wide on the bottom and one 12mm (1/2") riveted to the top sides of the knee armor.

• Black marine vinyl. Slightly textured is acceptable. Not too glossy in appearance.
• The soles of the boot should be black like the rest of the boot.
• There is a strap that covers the bridge of the foot.
• The calf should come up just slightly underneath the bottom of the knee armor.
  

• Boots made using the "boot tutorial" (available on BSN.net) are the only boots accepted.
• Film-accurate vertical ribbing cut into the toe and heels of boots.
• 25mm (1") Velcro closure along the back of the boot risers.

• Attached to the outside right side of the right boot by rivets, not straps.
  

• Should be attached with 4 rivets black in color, 1 in each corner, and must not have any rank striping visible
• The blaster pistol should fit in the holster.

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.

• Made out of black matt finish heavy weight cotton fabric.
• Sleeves should be padded and contain ribbing similar to the front of the cummerbund, the sleeves should end just slightly longer than the bottom edge of the shoulder armor.
• Must have a much wider neck opening than the flight suit
• Secured at the back using 50mm (2") black velcro.
  

• Required for a movie accurate costume

• Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster.
  

• Folding stock (does not need to function).
• A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - should be present.
• D-ring mounted on the rear.
• Correct style scope.
• Two power cylinders on the magazine.
• Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters should have a total of 6 t-racks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the Hengstler side un-covered).
• Popular commercially available toy Stormtrooper blasters have a total of 7 T-racks (if you cover all the rows of holes) or 6 T-racks (if you cover the "open row" of holes on the Hengstler side.
• Below this, you must grind off the lower T-rack and drill a new row of holes).

• Based on a real or replica MG-34 machine gun.
  

• A DLT-19 is an MG-34 with T-tracks on the barrel, ejection port cover added, and a small disk on left side.

• Flat black, semi-gloss or slightly weathered.
• The pistol should not have any visible trigger, labels or logos.
  

• Kenner toy blasters, modified Kenner toy blasters or resin recasts of Kenner toy blasters are not acceptable due to the fact they are approximately 10% larger in scale than an accurate blaster should be.
• Blasters with triggers are unacceptable as no screen props had them.
