Black text indicates a feature that is required for approval. Blue text denotes features that are nice to have, but not required. Red text indicates features that take the prop/costume item to an even higher level of accuracy.

For 501st membership only the requirements listed in black need to be met.

Special Notes:

  • The armor parts shall be gloss black and made from one of these types of materials or like materials: Fiberglass, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), or HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene).
  • Blasters are not required for legion membership per our weapons policy.
  • This CRL is a work in progress.
  • While this costume must be approved by the Legion Membership Officer, submissions should still go to the local GML, who will post the application in the appropriate section of the Legion forum.
  • If you have this costume and would like to assist with this CRL, please contact your detachment leader!
  • Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.
Required Costume Components

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

  • Lenses must be Black or Smoke and dark enough to obscure the costumer's eyes. They may be flat or Bubble.
  • The grey "ears" have three or four bumps
  • Frown must have either 6 or 8 teeth cut out and Grey coloring must not leave indented area.
  • Tube stripes are black and may number between 9 and 15 per side with the curve bends extending backwards. There does not need to be the same number per side.
  • Aerators (cylinders on either side of the vocoder) are black, and screening maybe silver or black.
  • Tears and traps may be: hand painted, decals, or decals that replicate hand painting. They must be grey with black outlines and highlights.
  • Chin / Vocoder (vertically ribbed chin detail) is black..

  • Must be black in color and made from vinyl or leather. Must be worn over the right shoulder.

For 501st approval:
  • Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Folding stock (does not need to function).
  • A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - should be present.
  • D-ring mounted on the rear.
  • Correct style scope.
  • Two power cylinders on the magazine.
  • Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters should have a total of 6 t-racks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the Hengstler side un-covered).
  • Popular commercially available toy Stormtrooper blasters have a total of 7 T-racks (if you cover all the rows of holes) or 6 T-racks (if you cover the "open row" of holes on the Hengstler side.
  • Below this, you must grind off the lower T-rack and drill a new row of holes).
