The 501st approval requirements are listed in black. The Sovereign Protectors Detachment defines two additional, optional levels of costuming excellence: Protector and: Sentential . In the page below, requirements for Protector are listed in blue. Sentinel requirements are in red. Please visit the Sovereign Protectors web site for a full description of these standards. For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

This CRL is a work in progress. While this costume must be approved by the Legion Membership Officer, submissions should still go to the local GML, who will post the application in the appropriate section of the Legion forum. If you have this costume and would like to assist with this CRL, please contact your detachment leader! Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

	Helmet For 501st approval: Painted either in matte or gloss-finished, in a black shade that matches the outer robe, with a red visor that allows maximum visibility, but hides the wearer’s features.
	For level two certification (if applicable):

Bodysuit: Bodysuit should be made to resemble that which is seen on the screen. There are no visible pockets on this bodysuit.

Body Armor: Body armor must be either matte or gloss black in color and consist of the following components: Shoulder Bells: Shoulder bells must be shaped to mimic the visual reference and must have a duckbill style based on Storm Trooper shoulder bell.

Chest Plates: Chest plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference, based on a Storm trooper chest plate.

Back plate: Back plate must be shaped to mimic the visual reference. Based on a Storm Trooper back plate.

Abdominal Plates: Abdominal plates must be shaped to mimic the visual reference.

• Note: All body armor components must be secured to the costumer’s bodysuit by either 1) harness/strapping system, 2) Velcro/Snaps, and cannot hang free.

Vambraces/Gauntlets: Vambraces/Gauntlets must be shaped to mimic the visual reference

	Black Gauntlet Gloves For 501st approval: Black, leather or leather-like, enclosed fingered, non-textured, fitted gauntlet style. No buckles, straps, or decorative stitching are permitted. The three straight lines on the back of the hand (that match some references) are permitted.
	For level two certification (if applicable): Gloves shall be made of leather.
	For level three certification (if applicable): Gauntlets shall slightly flair-out, upward from the wrist to the mid- forearm.

	Belt For 501st approval: Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on popular eBay available buckles. The belt shall be constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material, approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width (up to 3" (76.s mm) is acceptable) The buckle shall be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material. A single large snap or rivet should be visible approximately 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle. The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer. The buckle size should be approximately 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners. Buckles are adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.
	For level two certification (if applicable): Belt must be made of leather. Snap is to be worn to the left of the wearer. Buckles shall have a slight horizontal curve.
	For level three certification (if applicable):

Kama: Must match respected armor color, made of same material as the flight suit and outer robes. (Preferred: Velvet matching the outer robe on the outer layer of the Kama, inner layer of the Kama matching the bodysuit material.)

Leg Armor: Shin armor must be constructed with the same material and color as the armor and reflect the style of Jango Fett shins.

	Officer Boots For 501st approval: Knee-high, black, lace-less, non-textured, leather or leather-like material. Rubber is not acceptable.
	For level two certification (if applicable): Boots must not have a visible zipper.
	For level three certification (if applicable): Boots must be leather, not vinyl or PVC, and be exact replicas of English riding (dress) boots. Boots have conservative heels.

Boot Armor: Spats: to be done in the style of Jango boot armor.

Saberpike: Saberpike is to match the visual reference set by the Hyperspace diagram of the Shadow Guard weapon. MAUL sabers on a stick are not acceptable.

Force Unleashed Shadow Royal Guard costume May have (but not required):

Outer robes: Outer robes should be constructed of black velvet or velveteen; inner lining must be constructed of black cloth material. These robes are to be done in the Episode 2 style: AOTC robes, with the following modifications. A single slit is to be added in the center of the back so as to be able to wrap the back of the robes around the hands, with the front robe section going over the shoulder on right.
