Context: Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Formed at Palpatine's discretion without a formal act, several senators considered them to be illegal. Palpatine justified their creation due to rumors of corruption amongst the Senate Guard. In galaxy dominated by the blaster the choice of the force pike as their primary weapon is a declaration of the prowess of the Red Guard.

Constructed of crimson red velvet or velveteen, fully lined in burgundy or dark purple fabric, also preferably velvet or velveteen that matches the inner robe. Velour's and crushed panne velvet are not acceptable. The cloak should cover both the front and back of the wearer, with two arm slits (one on each side) for the wearer's arms; with the front of the robe being sewn to over lap the back.
