• Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

The 501st approval requirements are listed in black.

The Imperial Officer Corp Detachment defines additional, optional levels of costuming excellence. In the page below, items listed in blue are optional features that will improve the quality of the costume. These items are not required, but are recommended.

For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

For Level 3 approval, the combination of accessories for a costume must strictly match a particular movie seen configuration.

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

Isard's Hair is straight (or slightly wavy) black, parted in the middle, either shoulder-length or mid-back length. The bangs are white. This can either be a wig, or natural hair dyed black and white.

• Hair must look natural, and styled in a way to not give the appearance of a wig.

• Fabric should be a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the pants and hat. Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
• Tunic is double-breasted with a left over right closure on the tapered yoke.
• Yoke comes up across the shoulder to the top shoulder seam.
• The standing collar has square corners and is about 1.25" (31.8 mm) tall and closes snugly and includes a modesty panel behind closure. Collar edges are closed with two eye hooks.
• There are code cylinder pockets on both outside panels of the jacket from about half way between the top and bottom on the arm hole.
• Sleeves are long, and without decoration, cuffs or buttons, containing 2 seams, one along the bottom and one along the back.
• Tunic should be constructed with no top-stitching (stitches visible on the exterior surface of fabric)
  

• There is a dart of about 2" (50.8 mm) in the top center of the yoke.
• Additionally there is a seam running the entire circumference of the tunic, dividing it along a line hidden by the uniform belt.
• The back of the tunic has princess seams that run vertically and turn outward to intersect the arm-hole seam at the vertical center.

• Tunic must be secured on the right side by snaps or buttons, not Velcro. There is no topstitching visible anywhere and it must have a lining sewn in.

• Worn on the left side of the tunic over the heart.
• Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on metal bar.
• Each bar is 1" (25.4 mm) height, length is determined by chosen rank
• Rank tile dimensions are 1/2" (12.7 mm)width x 3/4" (19 mm) height and about 1/8" (3.2 mm).
• Tiles should be mounted with 1/4" (6.4 mm) spaces between them.
• Rank bar top row shall consist of six blue tiles.
• Rank bar bottom row shall consist of six red tiles.
  

• Please refer to the Imperial Buckle reference page for information on popular eBay available buckles.
• The belt shall be constructed from a non-textured leather or a leather-like material, approximately 2" (50.8 mm) in width (up to 3" (76.s mm) is acceptable)
• The buckle shall be constructed from a horizontally brushed metal, or metal looking material.
• A single large snap or rivet should be visible approximately 1" (25.4 mm) from the buckle. The belt may be worn with the snap to the right or left of the wearer.
• The buckle size should be approximately 2 5/8" (66.7 mm) high and 4 1/8" (104.5 mm) wide with 0.5" (12.7 mm) radius rounded corners.
• Buckles are adorned with an Imperial Code Disk at the center.
  

• Fabric should be a medium weight suiting material exactly matching the tunic and hat. Gabardine style weave is most accurate.
• Either flared riding breeches with semi-stiff flares to the hip/thigh area or straight legged trousers are acceptable.
• Pockets are acceptable, though they should not be visible with the tunic on.
• There are no noticeable cuffs on the pants.
  

• Knee-high, black, lace-less, non-textured, leather or leather-like material. Rubber is not acceptable.
  

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.

• Human eyes, one red and one blue.
• Contact lenses can be used for this effect.
• While encouraged to complete the look of this character, contact lenses are not required for 501st acceptance. All persons wishing to utilize contact lenses are encouraged to first see their optometrist for a fitting.
  

• Isard must have a blue right eye and a red left eye. This must be accomplished with contact lenses.
