Gree is a senior commander in the Grand Army of the Republic. Possessing a keen interest in alien species and cultures, the commander chose to be known as "Gree", a reference to an obscure alien species which Gree found particularly interesting. For operations in lush environments, Gree is equipped with camouflaged Phase II armor.


The 501st approval requirements are listed in black.

In the page below, items listed in blue are recommended features that will improve the quality of the costume. Items listed in red are intended to further enhance the finished costume.

For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

IMPORTANT: The "Animated" armor design, seen in The Clone Wars CG Series, differs from the "Realistic" armor design used to create characters from the theatrical films and graphic novels.

  • Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that the armor piece is considered open to interpretation. All instances of "should be" and "should have" will be replaced with "is" and "has", as this guide is completed.
Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

Blankwhite.gif Helmet
For 501st approval:
  • Phase II style helmet.
    • Some "name brand" helmets may be unacceptable.
  • Helmet mohawk on dome.
  • Mohawk, ear sections, lower helmet tubes and rear center areas, are white.
  • Dome, face and nose areas are chrome.
  • A Green camouflage command stripe is painted on the center of dome, nose, and chin areas.
    • The dome is a circular based stripe.
  • Green Mirrored eye lens.
  • Cheek indents are camouflage.
  • Helmet frown is charcoal grey.
    • Wire or plastic mesh is utilized inside the helmet to cover the open pieces of the frown.
  • Ear caps are painted a dark grey.
  • Hunter green, vertical hash marks on each side of helmet, between the ear sections and rear center indented area.
  • Green Camouflage rear indented helmet band.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Helmet has the appearance of a neck ring.
For level three certification (if applicable):
  • Helmet has an enclosed complete neck ring that seals the helmet to the neck.

For 501st approval:
  • Neck seal is black in color with vertical ribbing or being smooth in appearance.
  • No logos or labels are visible.
    • If the seal is not incorporated as part of the undersuit, a balaclava or other similar covering is acceptable.

  • Black non-textured material, either one-piece or two-piece construction with no visible zippers or logos.


Blankwhite.gif Shoulder Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted chrome.
  • Shoulders have a chrome outer ring with weathered camouflaged center.
    • Each shoulder has a different weathering pattern.
  • Shoulders are tear drop in shape with all rounded edges.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Shoulders are not symmetrical.
    • The armor slightly curves back at the bottom of the shoulder.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor ise painted chrome.
  • Biceps have a chrome outer ring with weathered camouflaged center
    • The camouflaged center pattern and scratches are distinct to each arm.
    • Tricep indents are chrome.
  • A dimple on the lower area of the back of the arm.
  • The outside of the bicep has a hard line edge at the front that turns in.
  • The inside of the upper arm is rounded.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Armor is seamless.
    • No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted matte or satin black, with hosta leaf green and hunter green camouflage pattern on top.
  • Elbow straps have a raised detail line at the top and bottom of the strap.
  • Elbow straps are black.
  • Armor has two parallel dashed detail slots on each outside edge of elbow at the strap connection.
  • Elbows are mirror images of each other with a notched area on the outside of the elbow above the detail marks.
  • Armor is weathered with shades of grey.



Blankwhite.gif Forearm Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted with a camouflage pattern that uses lighter greens than that of the suit.
  • Both left and right forearms are mirror images of each other.
  • Right forearm has a compad with (8) small buttons, (1) Large main button, and (1) slightly smaller rectangular button.
  • Forearm tops have a flattened triangular area with a ridge that comes to a point at the top of the forearm.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Compad has detail antenna on its left.
  • Instead of a hard edge the top of the forearm has a bone ridge.
  • Armor is seamless.
    • No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted with a camouflage pattern that uses lighter greens than that of the suit.
  • Hand plates are mirror images of each other.
  • Hand plates have a top curving ridge that comes to a point over the index or middle finger, just past the main knuckle of the hand.

For 501st approval:
  • Black over the wrist gloves made of leather, nylon, or other low pile fabrics.
  • Gloves cover any exposed skin.
  • Gloves do not show any labels or logos when the armor is worn.


Blankwhite.gif Chest Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted matte or satin black.
    • Hosta leaf green is shadowed over the entire surface.
  • A command stripe starts at the top center of the chest and flares out at the lower part of the chest.
    • The end of the stripe rides the lower ridge to a point.
    • There are scratches that show chrome paint.
    • The left side of the left upper chest is chrome and weathered.
  • Chest and Back armor match together at the sides with no open gap.
    • A seam line is present.
  • Shoulder straps are slotted into the detail ridges of the top connection points.


Blankwhite.gif Suspenders
For 501st approval:
  • (2) grey suspenders, one from each shoulder connect to the belt.
  • The first and last belt boxes are the connecting points.
  • On the right side suspender, a metal chevron or tab is placed.
  • Over the shoulders, a larger pad is placed.


Blankwhite.gif Back Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted matte or satin black.
  • Back armor shows no detail as it is covered by the Radio Pack.
  • Back and Chest armor match together at the sides with no open gap.
    • A seam line is present.
  • Shoulder straps are slotted into the detail ridges of the top connection points.
  • A thermal detonator is centered on lower back.
    • Detonator controls face to the left.


Blankwhite.gif Radio Pack
For 501st approval:
  • Radio is painted matte or satin black.
  • Hosta leaf green camouflage pattern covers the radio pack.
  • Radio consists of a horizontal top plate and vertical face plate.
  • Radio mounts to the top of the rear armor box and has two return boxes on each side of the radio.
  • Radio has an antenna mounted on top left with a blue diode attached to top of antenna.
  • There is a small curl knob near the antenna port.
  • Radio has a static bar on front face that bends back at two 90 degree angles to attach to side of the radio.
  • Radio has (3) knobs, dials, or lights on the bottom right corner.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Top returns of the radio have speaker details.
Blankwhite.gif Abdomen Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted matte or satin black.
  • Hosta leaf green camouflage is applied to the entire mid section.
  • Four 1/4" diameter holes per side on indents of abdomen armor.
    • Eight holes total.
  • Abdomen armor wraps around the wearers body and is sealed at the sides or at the back.
  • Abdomen is completely contained under the Chest and Back armor.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Armor is seamless at the sides and closed in the back.
    • A detail plate covers the seam line and hides all work.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted in a camouflage pattern.
  • Hips have silver accents.
  • Codpiece and Posterior armor connect at the hips.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Hips are connected via a snap with the correct detailed shape of the armor at the connection point.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted matte or satin black.
  • Green camouflage paint is matted over the entire belt.
  • Belt front, between front boxes, has three vertical rectangle indents which are spaced apart by two protruding rectangle areas.
    • The rest of the belt is flat surfaced with raised edging on top and bottom that run along the rest of the belt.
  • Eight Belt Boxes are attached to Belt, with four on each side.
  • Front and rear belt boxes have a key hole slot for suspenders to attach into
    • The two largest Boxes are in front with angled top surface that is higher toward the center.
    • The smallest boxes are located behind the front boxes, about 1/8 inch apart and have an angled end on top.
    • The medium sized matching boxes, with flat top cover, are about 1/8 inch from smallest boxes.
  • Left rear box is spaced closer to detonator and has two square buttons in the top left corner, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom right.
  • Right rear box is spaced closer to detonator and has a bar with two small cylinders centered, and two dashed indented detail marks on bottom left.
  • A detonator is centered and attached to back of Belt.
    • Detonator tube is about 2 1/4 inch diameter with wider detailed end caps.
    • Seven horizontally aligned square buttons are on left side of tube, facing backwards.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Boxes are notched on back and fit flush to belt.
For level three certification (if applicable):
  • Back of belt, between rear boxes, has horizontal ribbing.
  • Detonator connects to back of belt without any visible clips and is firmly secured in horizontal position.

For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted in a camouflage pattern.
    • Each leg has a distinctive pattern.
  • Thigh Armor has a flat triangle area above the knee which transitions to a ridge line that travels up the front of the thigh to the top edge.
  • Rear of armor has an indented area.
  • Armor is seamless.
    • No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.
  • Left thigh has a pouch that is held in place via a 2 inch grey strap.
    • Leg pouch has the correct shape and may or may not be functional.
    • Grey leg strap is made of leather.
  • Armor is seamless.
    • No visible traces of how the armor was assembled are shown.


Blankwhite.gif Knee Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted in a camouflage pattern.
    • Each knee has a distinctive pattern.
  • Knees wrap around the front of the leg.
  • From top center a raised detail line is present.
  • Knees are strapped to the leg via a black or dark grey strap with a raised center area that wraps around the leg and connects on both sides of the Knee.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Center strap is primer grey.
  • Connection between the knee and the strapping has a detail clip.
Blankwhite.gif Lower Leg Armor
For 501st approval:
  • Armor is painted gloss black.
  • Lower Legs are mirror images of each other.
  • The front of the armor has a triangular detail at the top of the leg and a hard ridge line down the front of the shin.
  • Back of the lower legs have an indentation just under the calf that travels down to the ankle.
  • The outside of the calf is closed.
    • Calf can have an access area on the inside of the leg.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Calves are seamless and have a trap door access through the indent in the rear of the lower leg.
Blankwhite.gif Boots
For 501st approval:
  • Black, ankle high or tall enough to cover the ankle and eliminate any black undersuit visible at the ankle.
  • Boots are lace-less.
  • The boots have armor detail to include a natural seam at the toe and a grey strap that goes over the top of the foot with two protruding disks at each side of the strap.
  • There are no markings or labels from the shoe makers.
  • Boot soles are flat.
  • Boot soles are colored primer grey.


Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.


DC15 carbine.jpg DC-15S Blaster
For 501st approval:

Manufactured by BlasTech Industries the DC-15S is smaller in scale than the DC-15A blaster rifle. Although it has a shorter range than that of the "A" model, it is easier to handle with a higher rate of fire. It features a folding stock for braced firing.

  • Blaster rifle may be scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin.
  • Total length is approximately 26“ (66 cm).
    • Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is incorrect.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • Folding stock (does not need to function).
  • A total of (12) radiator fins are present on the barrel.
  • Spare igniter is present on both sides of barrel.
  • Charge magazine is present on the right side.
For level three certification (if applicable):
  • Charge magazine is metal to gun metal grey in color.
  • Any bolts and screws are metal to gun metal grey in color.
  • Parts of the spare igniter are copper in color.
  • Blaster is weathered.


DC15 rifle.jpg DC-15A Blaster Rifle
For 501st approval:

Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, the DC-15A is a tibanna gas, cartridge powered weapon. Hyper-ionized blue plasma bolts are more than capable of penetrating armored units. Exceptionally effective against both droids and contemporary targets.

  • Blaster rifle is scratch built out of plastic, wood, metal or cast in resin.
  • Total length is approximately 55 inches (139.7 cm).
    • Because of the scale, the Hasbro version is not allowed.
For level two certification (if applicable):
  • A total of (10) radiator fins are present on the barrel.
  • A power setting adjuster is present.
  • The correct style of sniper scope is present.
  • Charge magazine lock is present on the left side.
  • Power setting adjuster, sniper scope and charge magazine lock is metal to gun metal gray in color.
For level three certification (if applicable):
  • Sniper scope is able to be removed from storage position (bottom of rifle) and attached to the top of the rifle.
  • Parts of the spare igniter are copper in color.
  • Front optical sight is able to flip to the up position.
  • Any bolts and screws are metal to gun metal grey in color.
  • Blaster is weathered.

For 501st approval:
  • Macrobinoculars are colored green.
