Kal Skirata was a Mandalorian instructor recruited by Jango Fett to train clone commandos in the Grand Army of the Republic. He has appeared in a number of Star Wars novels, the Galaxy trading card series (card #5), Star Wars Insider #87 and the Star Wars miniatures game (Legacy of the Force series, labeled "Republic Commando Training Sergeant.)

The 501st approval requirements are listed in black.

The Bounty Hunters' Guild defines two additional, optional levels of costuming excellence. In the page below, requirements for Level 1 "Notorious" are listed in blue. Level 2 "Infamous" requirements are in red. Please visit the BHG web site for a full description of these standards.

For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

• This CRL is a work in progress.
• While this costume must be approved by the Legion Membership Officer, submissions should still go to the local GML, who will post the application in the appropriate section of the Legion forum.
• If you have this costume and would like to assist with this CRL, please contact your detachment leader!
• Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .

• Must have a full one piece "T" visor.
• Main Color of the helmet should be Sand gold.
• The "outer mandibles/head band", should be a Rust color. The "inner mandibles" just above the Sand Gold cheeks should be a dark brown to match all the soft parts.
• The Ear Caps on both sides as well as the top of the range finder should be a flat black. The stalk of the range finder should be a dull aluminum color.
• The keyhole slots in the rear of helmet must be cut out clean and backed with mesh underneath. They should be painted in the same Rust color as the “outer mandibles and headband”
• The helmet should be weathered to match visual references as closely as possible.
• 3 Claw marks should start just above the headband on the right side and end just a bit into the top of the brown on the upper cheek. See visual reference for claw mark position
  

• Must Dark Grey in color.
• Must be double sleeved with long inner sleeves going under the forearm gauntlets and the shorter outer sleeves stopping just above the elbow.
• The seams of both sleeves should run in a frontal line from the shoulder, down the bicep and forearm.
• The pants should be tighter at the shins/ankles to allow a snug fit of the shin armor without drooping over the boot.
  

• Recommended button holes on either side of knees and shins to insert elastic bands for a tighter fit.

• Must be a medium to dark brown leather or leather-like material.
• Neck, shoulder and arm opening have piping on the seams.
• Shoulders must not flare outwards and look like wings.
  

• All armor should be “Sand Gold” in color and weathered where indicated in visual references to give the illusion of battle wear and damage.
• Shoulder armor pieces should have eight points.
• Left chest armor must have two indented horizontal bars, the lower one to be wider and positioned as shown in visual references. (As seen in the SW Insider #87 Reference Image)
• Center diamond plate between chest plates must have an indented vertical rectangle as shown in visual references.
  

• Back plate must have two shoulder slots to allow Pack Pack harness to fasten to torso underneath.
  

• The Back Pack should be made to resemble available visual reference.
• Primary colors of the Back Pack should be Sand Gold, Aluminum and Black.
• Must be weathered to look battle damaged.
  

• Medium to dark brown with leather or leather-like material with contrasting white/tan stitching.
• Belt should be approximatly 2.5 inches wide and stitched along the top and bottom edges.
• The back of the belt should overlap itself and be held together with Velcro.
• Belt shall contain 7 Pouches
  • Pouches should be arranged as 5 on the right and 2 on the left with a space between the right and left sides for the placement of the Jango Fett style Westar Holster
  • Each ammo pouch should be approximatly 3 inches tall in the back, 2-3/8 inches tall in the front, 3/4" deep on top and have a slanted edge from top to front.
  • Each ammo pouch shall close in the front and have stitching around the edge of the pouch and down the front flap.
    

• Two medium to dark brown cargo-style pouches are worn on the hips.
• Pouches shall have a slanted flap over the front of the pouch.
• Pouch should slide onto or be secured Between the Kidney armor and the cod armor
  

• Single Jango Fett style Westar holster shall be worn on the left thigh.
• The holster connects to the belt in the space between the right and left groups of ammo pouches.
• Must be constructed of leather or leather-like material and be brown in color.
• Straps are approximately 1 inch wide Straps are adjustable with 1/4 inch brass ball studs.
• The shape of the holster should match the general shape of the blasters. The opening at the top is angled and slightly flared. The bottoms are tapered so that the blasters fit snugly.
  

• The gauntlets should be hinged on the inside of the forearm and close on the outside with velcro or similar attachment.
• The right gauntlet should contain the following components:
  • Two toggle switches on upper inside section
  • Four forward facing darts in front of middle section
  • Side housing, which holds the 3 sided knife.
  • Four square pattern indentations on lower gauntlet section.
• The left gauntlet should contain the following components:
  • Two black buttons sitting on top of the flamethrower assembly on the outside of the gauntlet
  • Two ports that protrude from the front of the flamethrower assembly, one over the other.
  • Three square pattern indentations on the lower gauntlet section as show in visual references.
    

• The gloves are medium to dark brown in color and constructed of a thin, soft leather or similar material.
• Gloves are worn tucked underneath the gauntlets.
  

• Cod piece should be dimensional and curve under groin area.
  

• Thigh armor should be curved to fit snugly over thighs.
• No visible strap is permitted.
  

• It is highly recommended to attach the armor to legs via elastic bands inserted through small button holes in the suit to wrap around legs underneath for a secured fit.

• Inner section of the knee armor must have the upside down "F" pattern.
• Outside section of the knee armor must have the rocket dart assembly with two rocket darts.
• No visible strap is permitted.
  

• It is highly recommended to attach the armor to legs via elastic bands inserted through small button holes in the suit to wrap around legs underneath for a secured fit.

• Shin armor should fit snugly over shin and sit just above the boot armor and not fall loosely over the boot.
• No visible strap is permitted.
  

• It is highly recommended to attach the armor to legs via elastic bands inserted through small button holes in the suit to wrap around legs underneath for a secured fit.

• Boot armor should conform to the curve of the boots and square off at ankles.
• A strap is used to attach to boot heels on both sides.
  

• Must be brown and must not have any zippers or laces
• Snaps on both side of heel upper to accept the boot armor is recommended.
• Men's Merona Rolando Style Brown Boots are an example of an acceptable boot.
  

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.

• Based on a scratch-built or a modified commercial toy Westar 34 pistol.
• Must be silver or chrome in color with matt finish on the handles.
  

• Based on available visual reference.
