The 501st approval requirements are listed in black.
The Bounty Hunters' Guild defines two additional, optional levels of costuming excellence. In the page below, requirements for Level 1 "Notorious" are listed in blue. Level 2 "Infamous" requirements are in red. Please visit the BHG web site for a full description of these standards.
For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

- This CRL is a work in progress. This costume may be approved by GMLs, but additional research should be done until the CRL is complete.

- Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

| Required Costume Components
|
|
The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .
|
|
|
| Head Wraps For 501st approval:
- The head wrap should be an open mesh, cheesecloth, gauze-like material that replicates a fresh bandage.
- Bandage should be clean of weathering.
- See Accessories section below for Return of the Jedi variant.

| Hood For 501st approval:
- Light gray close fitting Balacalva style hood with a loose neck/chin cover.
|
For level two certification (if applicable):
- Chin cover: Three weathered snaps on each side. Two caps and one male snap.
|
For level three certification (if applicable):
- The center male snaps are to be centered and brought in ¾” from the capped snaps
|
|

| Facial Features For 501st approval:
- Make-up drawn on face to replicate the scar
|
For level two certification (if applicable):
- Scarring make-up or prothstetics used to replicate the scar. Ex. rigid collodion scarring liquid
|
For level three certification (if applicable):
- Eyebrows are covered by latex stage make-up or shaved off.
|
|
|
| Shoulder Bells For 501st approval:
- Stormtrooper Bells are used
- One on each side and held together by a webbing strap that is worn across the back of the shoulders.
|
For level two certification (if applicable):
- An elastic strap keeps the bell close to the arm
|
For level three certification (if applicable):
- A 3” armour scar is on the backside of the right Shoulder Bell.
|

| Forearms For 501st approval:
- Stormtrooper forearm pieces are used.
- Forearm pieces are assembled and cut open lengthwise on the plain bottom half of the forearm.

| Gloves For 501st approval:
- Gray or White leather gloves with a 4-6 inch cuff. The brand name WELDAS SOFTOUCH Tig/Mig gloves appear to be the closest to the screen used gloves.
- White Damascus D650 Gauntlets or White/Grey Fencing gloves are a perfectly acceptable alternative.

| Flight Suit For 501st approval:
- Light gray
- Heavily Weathered

- No sleeve or rear pockets

| Chest Armour For 501st approval:
- A Snow trooper Chest plate and ribbed shoulder straps are used.
- Upper Center Greeblie plate should have two round buttons , a vent piece, two bushings and two off-centered, blocks.
- “T” Greeblie as seen on the snowtrooper chest.
- Lower Center Greeblie is a comm pad placed in the void of the snowtrooper chest plate
- A three button plate is on the left.

- The Comm Pad is curved
- A webbing strap is attached underneath the ribbed, plastic strap via a Chicago screw on the front and is attached to the backpack by two split rivets
- Square greeblies as seen on the scout trooper helmet mouth area are seen on the lower corners of the chest armour.

| Backpack For 501st approval:
- While screen accuracy is always the goal. some liberties are taken into account due to the fact there is only one known full photograph of the pack.

| Ab/Cod Piece For 501st approval:
- Sandtrooper Ab Plate is used.
- Left side ab plate has only 3 buttons. Not four.
- Right side ab plate is blank and does not contain buttons like the Stormtrooper
- There is a strap that attaches from the end of the cod piece to the back side of the belt.

- There is an “armour scar” on the lower left side of the cod piece

| Belt and Pouches For 501st approval:
- Belt is 2 inches wide and can be made of cloth, nylon strap or leather.
- Pouches are rectangular and boxy with an angled flap.
- Pouches secure to belt through a continuous loop on the back of each pouch.

- Pouches have two 1” loops
- Belt buckle has a round disk in the center
|

| Sidearm holster For 501st approval:
- Leather or leather-like material.
- Attaches to belt like a Hoth Rebel Trooper or directly to the the thigh armor.

| Thigh Armor For 501st approval:
- Stormtrooper thighs are used.
- It is suggested for trooping purposes that a hidden garter belt under the jumpsuit or armour is attached to the jumpsuit by way of snaps or other method is best
- The thigh armour is closed in the back.

For level two certification (if applicable):
- A wide shim of plastic that is similar to armour is to help close the back seam.
|
For level three certification (if applicable):
- A 1” elastic strap is attached by two split rivets at the top of the front thigh pieces which wraps around the entire leg.

| Greaves For 501st approval:
- Sandtrooper Greaves are used.
- Greaves open in the back to expose the boot. Greaves should not close in the back.
- Diamond Knee plates – six sided (hexagon) mounted onto a five-sided “diamond” shape, with a point on the bottom – are on BOTH knees
- There are three 1 ¼ ” straps surrounding the circumference of the greaves.
- Straps loosely hang off and droop

| Boots For 501st approval:
- Light tan or gray moccasin style, calf length boot

| Optional Accessories
|
|
Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present must meet the guidelines below.

| Return of the Jedi Variant For 501st approval:
- A stormtrooper chest plate may be worn in place of the backpack. The chest plate should not be worn in conjunction with the backpack.
- The head wraps must be omitted when the backplate is worn.

| DL-21 For 501st approval:
- The DL-21 prop is a combination of the body of an AR-7 Explorer made by Charter Arms and a Sterling L2A3 submachine gun handle.
- The flared muzzle is the fin assembly off a British 2" Mortar shell.

| BlasTech DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle For 501st approval:
- Based on a real or replica MG-34 machine gun.
|

- A DLT-19 is an MG-34 with T-tracks on the barrel, ejection port cover added, and a small disk on left side.

For level three certification (if applicable):
