The 501st approval requirements are listed in black.
The Bounty Hunters' Guild defines two additional, optional levels of costuming excellence. In the page below, requirements for Level 1 "Notorious" are listed in blue. Level 2 "Infamous" requirements are in red. Please visit the BHG web site for a full description of these standards.
For 501st membership only the requirements in black need to be met.

- Please note that the use of the word "should" below does not indicate that a requirement is optional. All instances of should will be replaced with must as this guide is completed.

| Required Costume Components
|
|
The following costume components must be present and appear as described below for approval .
|
|
|
| Head For 501st approval:
- A well blended bald cap is required.
- Bald cap must be covered in white makeup or painted to match the white skin color.
- Two small holes must be cut into the top of the bald cap to accomodate a ponytail and a wire antenna.
- Hair must be pulled into a high ponytail coming off the top of the head and tied with burnt orange cloth wraps.
- Ponytail must reach mid to lower back when pulled through the wraps.
- Hair must be straight and mostly reddish-brown in color and match visual references.
- A mix of long red, brown and blonde hair extensions can be used in place of or in addition to the costumer's real hair.
- Wooden beads must be woven into several strands of the hair.
- A wire antenna approximately 12 inches tall must be attached to the costumer's head in front of and to the left side of the ponytail.

For level two certification (if applicable):
- Burnt orange ponytail wrap must have a thin, darker orange suede or cloth tie around it.
|
For level three certification (if applicable):
- Head must be shaved mostly bald except for the ponytail.
|
|
|
| Hands For 501st approval:
- Must have white prosthetic finger extensions attached and well blended with white makeup to give the fingers the appearance of being approximately double their normal length.
- Nails are painted black.
- Must have burnt orange wrist wraps.
|

- Must have full prosthetic monster-type hands that are hidden by the wrist wraps.

| Complexion For 501st approval:
- All exposed skin must be covered in white makeup that blends well into the bald cap and finger extensions.
- Under eyes and eye lids must be dark gray to faded black.
- Lips must be gray.
- Cheeks must have black or dark gray makeup used as blush to define the cheekbones.

- Tank-top styled bodysuit/unitard with full length legs.
- Color must be burnt orange and match visual references.
