Congratulations to May 2012 Trooper of the Month, Adriane "Beans" Bean! Adriane Bean, TK-4541 of the Midwest Garrison is recognized for her coordination of the Midwest Garrison's appearance at a send-off party for a 7-year-old boy named Connor. Connor was about to undergo bone marrow transplant treatment to hopefully cure a rare immunodeficiency that makes it hard for his body to fight off infection. Beans spent many hours preparing for this event. She personally planned and arranged for a number of games and activities for the kids. In addition to being a blast of an event, the party also netted the garrison a donation of $300 for our walking team for an Autism Speaks walk in Chicago, which pushed us over the $2000 mark for direct fundraising. Beans was so touched by Connor's story that she registered with the bone marrow registry, to hopefully help another child in the future. She also kept up with Connor's story on his parent's blog. It was at this point that she really went above and beyond the regular call of duty. Adriane learned that Connor's treatment did not work, and quickly assembled donations for a care package to distract Connor from his medical issues. It is because of her extraordinary and selfless efforts that Beans was chosen as TOTM. http://tinyurl.com/bmyq9ws
